Pic of the month

We ventured off into the Midlands for a fun filled day incorporated with a little admin for the wedding. The drive was so much of fun.Our last weekend of single life.
This is the most awesome pic that Nes took out on our way back home. Who would have thought that a twig could look so beautiful.

Spring is here.

There is something so special about the 1 September. The arrival of spring reveals colour, warmth, happiness and represents a new start. Maybe because flowers are starting to bloom again and after a very cold winter in Jozie, it actually is very warm. We use nature as a sign and we feel like it's a new start for many of us. Time to clear out the winter clutter and do some spring cleaning. Time to get back into the gym and burn of the winter warmth. Time to bring out those little shorts and get ready for summer.

For me, it's time to get married. The month has arrived. As I mentioned in a previous post, this time would come and I would write about how the time just flew by. It feels like I just closed my eyes and here I am. Everyone is so excited for this wedding. The first one in both our families. I'm really excited. Waiting to start this new phase of my life. Take on the role of dedicated wife. To build a home. To have a family of my own now. I think we all are going to get caught up in the whirlwind of this wedding. I think we hardly going to have time to breathe. Feels like this has all come so fast. Just feels like yesterday, that Nesan said those first words to me... 'My chips are better than yours' Our friendship grew in a strange and fast way. Almost as if we were souls that knew each other for many lifetimes. Connecting again in this life. But catching up on so much. I feel like he is my twin. We are cut from the same cloth. Our sense of humour. The way our mind works. Our obsession/healthy attitude towards the gym. Our love for KFC although he ranks McDonalds higher (traitor). Your life partner should be your best friend because you will always have the most entertaining time together. So bring on marriage. People say that it's hard work, but I bet that we will be the couple to prove that theory wrong.

My Birthday

Everyone called and the famous line for my birthday was... 'It's your last birthday at home.' This almost sounded as if I was going to be leaving the world, but being one of the first friends to get married... this was just excitement. It was also true.So I wanted to spend my birthday at home, with my family. It was beautiful.

I'm also quite obsessed with the colour white. Maybe it is because of the island wedding. I'm loving it right now. This was my white look for my birthday.

My Fabulous Bridal Shower

My sweet girls got together and threw me the most fabulous bridal shower ever. All thanks to Ali, this turned out to be the most wonderful event ever. One year worth of planning, and we ended up with a night were we truly got to enjoy and celebrate our friendships.

The theme was a Victoria Secret fashion show and our colour scheme was pink and black. Ali really went over board but I have to thank her for that now because if it wasn't for her eye for detail, this party would not have been so wonderful. She spent every waking hour dedicated to making this bridal shower memorable, and I can truly say that it was much more than that. I had the best time. I cried and danced with my girls. I guess it also became my farewell party, saying bye to my girls in jozie.

Here are some pics of the decor.

And here are some of my favourite pics of the night.

Fabulous memories!

2 Months and Counting!

11 June 2010, the last day of the Fifa World Cup 2010. This singular event has changed the view of South Africa to the world. It has put our country on the map, and opened everyones eyes to the beauty of SA.
For many South Africans that have not travelled, it has allowed them to mingle with people from different cultures, opening their eyes to the beauty of the world.

After travelling to Europe in 2008, I fell in love with travel. I got to see 17 different countries in Europe and take in the wonders of each. Art, culture, architecture, language and food. Being able to experience something like that, and being able to see how other people live in the world, makes you live outside the knowledge of your own town. It makes you want to see more and achieve more. Live in the bigger picture.
From that day, I wanted to see the whole world. Lol, but that's not possible in a year. Instead I decided that I wanted to see a different part of the world every year. 2009 it was Mauritius and in exactly 2 months from now it will be Greece and Istanbul.

There is so much to do from now until then, so right now I'm just going to enjoy the finals of the World Cup. Viva Espana, Viva!

World Cup Concert!

We went to the much anticipated World Cup concert with a magnificent line up of artists that were performing. There was so much excitement for the much awaited evening. Traffic in jozie can be painful so we decided to leave early and we had the most amazing tour of Soweto. It felt like we were tourists in our own country. The community in Soweto were so friendly and open to having tons of people roaming around and visiting historical sites. It was exciting and something that I'm so glad that we did. Really opens your eyes to the beauty of SA.
We stopped in the middle of the road to get this shot.
